Through this four-month journey of learning the basics of Geographic Information System, I have developed a strong understanding of GIS concept and theories, and learned tremendous knowledge in spatial data analysis, cartographic design and map production. As a map freak, I am thrilled to see how powerful GIS is in geospatial analysis and data visualization in this course. I also gained a deeper insight on the broad applications of GIS in various issues such as including socioeconomic issues, natural hazards and environmental impact assessment. This course ignites my passion in GIS and Cartography. I am excited to explore more in this field through my future co-op experience.
